Yesterday was a Sunday and i had a wonderful relaxing time with my darling.
(This introduction sounded so much like a standard 6 essay, don’t you think =P)
We started the day at 11-ish, and for the first time, i was the one who actually called to wake her up. The normal routine would be the opposite way around where i sleep and she is the one doing the wake up call - wake up call here means it’s either food time OR shopping time.
Just like any day, we started off the day with 2 main objectives in mind
First item for the day – get a bag for her brand new 450D
Second item for the day – pick up her paper bag that i’ve accidentally left at the makan place yest
So there i was driving to her place in my half awaken state, hoping to finish up that 2 tasks asap and maybe spend some quiet time alone with my darling after that. Once i reached her place, i gave her a call and over the phone she was still sounding very groggy – my guess was she’s still on the bed. While waiting for my darling to open the gate for me, i casually look around the compound, it was then that i saw that her parents cars were still in, weird, coz normally at these hours, her parents will not be around. Counted again, yup, all the cars were in, her bro could be at home too.
Just right bout then that my darling gf decided to appear and open the gate for me.
My darling was still in her cute pj top but a …slightly bleah pair of 3-quarter =P
I was asked to wait for her in the living room while she go get ready and given the state that i was in, naturally i fell asleep.
Soon enough she woke me up and said :
“We are gonna have lunch together with my parents…”
“You hear the noises just now?”
“That was my mum waking up my bro, we’ll all have lunch together”
.
..
…
“but..that wasn’t the plan” – i protested
I wasn’t really looking for a meet-the-parents-AND-the-bro session that day…
My hair was in a mess…and i looked..sleepy…like i always do..but that’s not the point…the point is..i’m not ready for it!
My darling managed to work her charm on me and before i knew it, i was seated rite opposite her dad in the dining table…
A.W.K.W.A.R.D……..
It was a very formal conversation that i had wif her dad..global economy downturn and how it affects the company that i worked in.
With the mum, it was a lighter topic, how did the ‘tong yuen’ came about…how ‘tong yuen’ festival is more important than the new year, very light and bordering educational talk..which i’m fine with =)
According to my gf, i wasn’t too particularly good with conversing with the elderly. well darling, it’s hard to maintain my composure when i’m talking to YOUR dad, it’s not like any other stranger elderly that i bump into elsewhere… i was trying to ‘create’ a positive first impression there =P
It was an ok lunch i guess…i did not fumble (i think)…and i did not accidentally curse in front of the parents (extra brownie points there) and also, i don’t think there was any vege stuck in between my teeth too..hehe..
So, there i thought, it’s over.. *PHEW* it aint that hard, i can now be back to myself
We went to Pavilion for a shopping trip. While we were there, we discovered the perfect cure to my razor-thin patience with shopping trips –> a DSLR!
Muahaha… after a few encouraging comments from our mutual friends the nite before, i’m all geared up bout snapping cool-ish pics ..
While we were there, I managed to capture a portfolio worthy of a National Geographic publication -
My gf in her natural habitat : the Shopping Mall
The Nat Geo commentary would read :
..and this is how chizziechick would lurk around in the mall with her peripheral vision sweeping across the great row of shops, looking for the word S.A.L.E..and when she sees it,*POUNCE* ..the shopper-instict in her kicks in..and there goes the display item from the shelf..
Truly, a natural predator.
Hehe..that’s my darling..
Anyway…we spent a good 3-4 hours walking around the mall…n we did some CNY shopping.
I still cant get used to the fact that CNY is in Jan..all this while CNY is in Feb..when did it move to Jan????
Done with the shopping, next up, food..dinner! We were discussing where to go for a cheap dinner after spending a fair bit on the shopping. Just then, my darling’s phone rang and there was some mumbling in mandarin and next thing i know…i was invited over to her place to have dinner…her bro is cooking.

IS THIS SOME KINDA PRANK????
Meeting the family TWICE in a day???
We’ve been avoiding the family for a quite a while, even when i do go over to her place, i’ll park behind the bushes to avoid attention..and now…now, i get to meet them TWICE in less than 12 hours! I’m not even prepared for it!
SIGH… but for my darling’s sake… i toughen up and went along with it..let’s just say that i never did regret it =)
It turns out that her bro is a quite a chef himself, 2 dishes and a non-soup essence, cooked at the right amount to savour the flavour and fill the stomach at the same time. I’m not a food connoisseur but i would rank that the lamb restaurant grade but the pork will need more work, it was slightly tough and too dry.
After the meal, the parents went around doing their things, leaving my darling and i with the bro. Had a lil chat to get to know him better – he was the very first person i know that aspire to be a writer. A typical china man would have just brushed the idea aside, knowing that arts can never feed an empty stomach, even if it does, it will never be a full stomach. For once i think i’m open to the idea of a non-typical career choice. I guess it must be the good food that changed my mind…bah..i’m so cheap… =P
Anyway, we ended the day watching DVD at her place which was soooo much more comfortable compared to my place.
Big screen, air con, plush sofa + pillow…and my darling right beside me…what else could i ask for?
Aahhh…that’s how i should live my life…
Oh..one more thing, just a reminder here, my darling :
Handsome Turkish men stink!
Remember that! HEHEHE
Thank you darling, for that wonderful Sunday. We definitely need to have more relaxing weekends (minus the meet the parents + bro part)
